Columbia County is the westernmost county of the three-county “Hells Canyon Circuit.” Asotin, Garfield and Columbia Counties share a single superior court judge who “rides circuit” to preside over hearings and trials. Though each county has its own self-administered superior court, elected clerk and other officials, they share a judge, administrator, and local rules.
Currently, the Superior Court Judge of the Hells Canyon Circuit is the Honorable William D. Acey. Other notable judges have served in this role throughout Washington’s history, including pioneer attorney and judge, the Honorable Robert F. Sturdevant.

Monday: 9:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
*Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
*Thursday: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Weekends or after-hours meetings by appointment only.
* Columbia County generally holds court (“Law and Motion Days”) on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and alternating Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. If there is no one available to be in the office, we may be closed.
